Like
that of the northern entrance which disappeared, this guard-house
consisted of two rooms. One is now used as a reception and bookshop;
On the other, we see only the foundations.
After a century of almost complete abandonment, the citadel
was saved thanks to the relentlessness of Monsieur du Colombier
and the safeguarding association he created in 1973. It was
bought in 1978 by the commune of Seyne-les-Alpes. The "Grand'Tour"
is then classified Historic Monument and the Fort listed in
the supplementary inventory. Restoration work begins in 1981
and continues annually.
This little return in the past ends. We wish to have you interested.
If you want to keep a record of your visit or to discover other
elements of the Seynois heritage, you will find in the bookshop
books and postcards evoking the history of the Fort and the
Pays de Seyne.
The new Home (former Guard Corps) was inaugurated in July 2012
